In support of the fight against the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia, the Speaker of the 53rd Legislature of Liberia, Alex Tyler, has lauded Dr. G. Gorbee Logan, the County Health Officer of Bomi, for his efforts against the terrible disease.Speaking last Friday in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, Speaker Alex Tyler said the Bomi Legislative Caucus is pleased to be part of the special reunification and certification of the Ebola survivors, which was achieved through Dr. Logan’s efforts, which have reduced the death rate in county and Liberia at large.According to the Speaker, the fight by Dr. Logan to help save 10 persons’ lives from the deadly Ebola was a task for which no one could pay Dr. Logan and his partners. The Speaker urged the doctor and his team to continue the fight against the disease.Speaker Tyler said he was confident that Liberia can overcome and contain the disease. He asserted that with Dr. Logan’s discovery of the Lamivudine drug by Dr. Logan, I believe that the Ebola virus has been defeated.”But the Speaker, a native of Bomi, warned that the issues of denial and other cultural practices in community could undermine the fight against the deadly Ebola virus and increase the spread to other community as well as individuals.“I want to expressed thanks and appreciation to the County Health Team for their support and also to the Ebola survivors that made all efforts to come for earlier treatment and their willingness to submit for Ebola medication and today have been saved from the virus.”He called on the County Taskforce to be more robust in identifying people suspected of the virus in various communities, in order to ensure that Ebola is eradicated from the county and Liberia as well.According to the Speaker, Ebola is not a death sentenced for every Liberian and as such everyone will not die of the virus. He urged the public to focus on observing the preventive measures, including washing hands and reporting of people suspected to ensure that Liberia is free of the deadly virus. Also speaking at the program, the Deputy Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Isaac Jackson described Dr. Logan as the “Anti-Ebola Warrior” due to his exemplary and highly successful efforts to contain the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia. The Minister at the same time presented solidarity packages of food and non-food items to the Ebola survivors and urged them to be ambassadors of their community in support of the fight against Ebola.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)
