LocalNews Plans are afoot to review the countries outdated medical act.. by: – June 6, 2011 Health Officials are meeting in Dominica today for a national consultation on the Medical Act.Health Minister Julius Timothy says the current medial act is over 60 years old.Timothy says he is concerned about the experiences the ministry has been having in terms of medical professionals on the island.“We want to make it clear to the medical professionals that the patients view matter as well. Doctors may know about the clinical but the patients are the one who knows what they feel and what the symptoms are. They must treat the patients with respect, equally so that we cane be able to diagnose what is wrong,” he said.Today’s consultation is being funded by the Ross University School of Medicine.Meantime Timothy says the ministry of health is concerned about the diabetic foot on the island.Health officials met with manicurists and pedicurists at the Public Service Training Center this morning.“Diabetes is becoming the norm of the western world and we see it growing every day. Ours is growing and I have difficulty with the amputation.
